What is the typical length of a travel assignment?
Assignments are typically 8-13 weeks with some assignments as short as 4
weeks. Nurses may be asked to extend their assignment and many nurses
have been known to stay in an assignment for over a year.
How many hours per week will I work at my assignment?
VitalCare travel nurse assignments have guaranteed hours. You may
work 36-60 hours per week depending on the facility you work at. This
allows you to earn extra income through overtime hours. If your facility
doesn't schedule those hours or cancels your shift, we will still pay you for
the guaranteed hours if you are available to work.
Can I request to work in a specific area of the hospital?
Yes. We have travel nursing positions available in many different specialty
areas. In addition, nurses are often given the opportunity to float to other
areas of the hospital allowing them to gain experience in new areas.
Where are the majority of VitalCare's travel nursing positions
located?
As of right now, the majority of our assignments are in California simply
because they have the highest pay rate in the nation. We also have
assignments in the Southeast; however we are still a young company on
the horizon. All you have to do is tell us where and when you want to go,
and chances are, we will probably be able to find you an assignment
anywhere in the country. We are constantly expanding our clientele on a
daily basis.
How can I start my career with VitalCare?
To become part of VitalCare's staff you must have one to two years of
current experience in your area and hold a current RN or LPN/LVN license.
In addition, you will need to complete all of the application requirements.
If for some reason you do not have at least one year of experience, please
contact one of our career specialists, and we may be able to assist you
with career options. We do have some clients that welcome the idea of
training newer nurses with longer term contracts.
When do I become a VitalCare employee?
You become an employee of VitalCare as soon as you start your first
assignment. We withhold and pay all of your employment taxes, health
insurance and Worker's Compensation, so you can focus on what you do
best. You may sign up for any benefits that are available, such as health
insurance, 401k and dental insurance (benefit start dates may vary).
What happens after I submit my application?
Once we receive your completed application, a VitalCare representative
will contact you. They will assess your traveling and clinical preferences,
and review all available jobs suitable to your interest and qualifications.
Your recruiter will then submit your profile to facilities you have chosen.
We request from the facilities that they review your file as soon as
possible, because we know that you are ready to get to work. Once you
accept a position, we will send you all the necessary documents to get you
started on your travel assignment. You will be contacted by a travel and
housing representative to discuss your travel arrangements and living
accommodations (if necessary ). Your recruiter will be available to assist
you on your assignments before, during, and after your placement. Some
nurses may travel within a week of applying, while others may take more
time.
If I discontinue benefits, when will I be able to sign up for them
again?
If you decide to opt out of benefits during open enrollment, you will not be
able to enroll until the next open enrollment period.
